About Landseed — Ecological Measurement & Earth Credits

Landseed is a public benefit corporation that measures the ecological condition of protected land and mints Earth Credits — a new commodity that captures the full value of what an ecosystem is actually doing. Not just carbon. Everything.

Conservation that funds itself.

Every acre of protected land filters water, sequesters carbon, shelters species, regulates floods, stabilizes soil, pollinates crops. Carbon credits price one of those services. The rest go unmeasured, unpriced, unfunded. The organizations doing the hardest work in conservation — land trusts — are perpetually underfunded because the value they protect has never had a market.

Landseed scores ecological condition across six scientific dimensions aligned with the UN SEEA Ecosystem Accounting framework — producing a single index for any parcel of land on Earth. Healthier ecosystems score higher. Degraded land scores lower — until it recovers.

A new commodity. One Earth Credit represents one acre-year of verified ecological condition, minted from real land, grounded in real science. Think of Landseed as the ecological equivalent of Verra — but instead of certifying carbon alone, we verify the full health of an ecosystem.

Credits are purchased and permanently retired. Revenue flows directly to the land trusts doing the work on the ground.

A recorded legal instrument that captures the ecological value of protected land. Unlike a conservation easement, which restricts what can be done with land, a Nature Rights Deed recognizes what the land is already doing — and makes that value tradeable. The bridge between conservation and capital.

Landseed is the verifier and registry. We do not trade credits, set prices, or hold inventory. We build the measurement layer — the infrastructure that makes a new market possible.
